Abu Dhabi: The National Avian Influenza Crisis Management Plan unanimously approved the National Contingency Plan with an estimated budget of Dh100 million during a meeting chaired by its chairman Shaikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister.
The committee, during the meeting on Tuesday, made its ninth and final revision of the plan, with all the members expressing their satisfaction and unanimously approving it. The plan will be presented before the Federal Cabinet at the next meeting for its final approval and implementation.
The meeting was attended by all members, representing various ministries, departments, organisations and authorities, including UAE Armed Forces. They included Lt. General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Interior Minister and Deputy Chairman of the committee, and Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Presidential Affairs.
The meeting decided to hold a full-scale drill in Abu Dhabi within the next couple of weeks. All the five stages of the plan, namely preliminary, survey (the current stage), initial infected areas, emergency and post-emergency, will be activated during the exercise.
Shaikh Saif emphasised the importance on launching a comprehensive awareness programme about the avail flu virus throughout the country.
