SOFIA (AFP) - The Bulgarian government warned its citizens to avoid travelling to regions affected by bird flu, including neighbouring Turkey and Romania.
Where travelling to these regions is necessary, people have been warned "to avoid all contact with markets or poultry farms," it said in a statement.
On Wednesday, Minister for Agriculture Nihat Kabil warned the virus could reach Bulgaria through Romania or Turkey, neighbouring countries that have seen several cases of bird flu.
The Bulgarian parliament was expected later Thursday to pass measures to stop the spread of the virus, as Ankara confirmed a third death.
